December 2006 Update

Dear Ministry Friends,

1Thessalonians 1:8 says, “For from you sounded out the word of the Lord.” This is the desire of our heart as we labor here in the field of Ireland. Along with our regular door knocking we have had some additional opportunities to “sound out the word of the Lord”. We finally finished stuffing the 15,000 packets containing John/Romans, “Your Heart Matters” tract and the “why is there Suffering and Death” booklet in early October. We were then able to get the packets to the post for delivery. The bundle going into Leixlip went out right away. The remainder that was to go into Lucan was met with some reluctance and slow delivery from the Lucan postal service. It looks like the packets are finally making their way through Lucan since two people have responded positively so far as well as having one come through our own door at the end of last week. Continue to pray that the Word of God found in these packets will “sound out” the message of salvation.

Another opportunity to “sound out the word of the Lord” came in mid-November during our second mission conference with Dr. John Halsey. The hearts of the folks of River Valley Baptist Church were certainly challenged in their commitment to “sound out the word of the Lord” around the world. This year as a church the faith promise commitments came to €11,000. This is double of last year’s commitments. How exciting it was to hear that we can do more this year. This will be a great help as we are the sending church for the Williams, our missionaries to Honduras.

Please find enclosed a copy of our latest prayer card. If your church does not receive my e-mail updates and prayer requests that go out in between my regular prayer letters and you would like to get them, then send your church’s e-mail address to me at thatchers@bimi.org . Also, you can check out information concerning our work, family and photos on our site located at http://brodonthatcher.blogspot.com/ . We trust that this upcoming Christmas season brings you great joy and gladness as you reflect on God’s greatest Gift to sinful mankind.
May the Lord find us faithful,The Thatchers
