December 13, 2007 update

Dear Friends,

Last Saturday Lisa hosted a ladies Christmas card making tea at our home. She had a pretty good turn out as well as good opportunity to interact with the ladies. She had two ladies come that do not come to our church, but Lisa met them in connection with home schooling while attending a home schooling class with our kids on Irish history. Our next big event is obviously Christmas. We will be having a small Christmas type program on the 23rd as well as a luncheon after the service.

I have to share a blessing that happened today concerning my wife and grocery shopping. She went out today to get some groceries and happened upon a great deal. Boneless, skinless chicken breast cost 23 Euros per kilogram at the regular price here at our supermarket. Well, this week they were having 50% off sale on the chicken. They do not do that very often. So it was priced at 11 Euros per kilo. (one Euro cost $1.49 today at the bank) Anyway, she came buy the section in the store where the put things that they mark down due to coming close to the "use buy" date. Well, the shelf had several packages of chicken on it, and it was marked down to 1.25 Euro per kilo. It was such a good deal that Lisa cleared out have the shelf of half of it leaving some so as not to be too greedy! We were able to get about 200 Euros worth of chicken for about 20 Euros! She made my day right then and there! Lisa eventually made it to the check out, and the lady that was scanning the groceries began to carry on a conversation with Lisa and the issue of all the chicken obviously came up. Lisa told her it was such a good deal and an answer to prayer because she had been praying for a bargain for Christmas. They then got to talk about how commercialized Christmas has become. Lisa then shared with her a bit about how we approach Christmas and then gave her one of our Christmas Gospel tracts. She took it to read later when she would have some time. Anyway, a great deal on chicken turned into an opportunity for a witness. Continue to pray for God to do a work here in the hearts of the people of Waterford.

May the Lord find us faithful,

Don and Lisa Thatcher
